Nigeria: Over 150,000 displaced persons return home in Benue, Nassarawa, and Taraba

The joint military operation whirl stroke says it has recovered a total of fifty seven weapons, twenty seven AK 47 rifles and one thousand three hundred and eleven rounds of ammunition with over a hundred and fifty thousand internally displaced persons back home in Benue, Nassarawa and Taraba state within six months of its operation.

Director defence information, Brigadier General John Agim disclosed this on Thursday while speaking to newsmen in Makurdi the Benue state capital.

The director general information defence headquarters Brigadier General John Agim highlighted the success recorded since the launch of operation 777 on October 8, 2018 within four sectors in Benue, Nassarawa and Taraba states which includes the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.

He said in addition to its offensive operation the joint military operation whirl stroke has intensified the use of non-kinetic activities as part of its implementation strategy.

The joint military operation which is designed to destroy all remnants of armed militia camps within the three states of coverage will equally mop up illegal arms to create a conducive atmosphere for the safe return of the remaining IDP's.
